Schwarzkopf IGORA ROYAL Highlifts Hair Color 12-2 Special Blonde Ash 60ml is a professional permanent highlift colour developed for clients who want to achieve a significantly lighter, cooler blonde result without using a traditional powder lightener on a suitable natural base.

Shade 12-2 belongs to the IGORA ROYAL Special Blonde 12-series. In the IGORA numbering system, the number before the dash identifies the colour depth, while the number after the dash identifies the primary tonal direction. The “2” in 12-2 represents an ash tone, giving the finished blonde a cooler appearance.

The formula is recommended for natural hair bases between levels 6 and 8. Depending on the starting shade and developer strength, it can provide up to five levels of lift. A 9% or 30 Vol. developer is generally used for up to four levels, while a 12% or 40 Vol. developer is used when stronger lifting performance is required on a suitable natural base. 

IGORA ROYAL Highlifts combines lifting ingredients with colour pigments so that the hair is lifted and toned during the same service. Its TrueLift Complex is designed to improve lifting performance while helping counteract the warm undertones that naturally appear when darker pigments are lightened. This makes shade 12-2 suitable for achieving a cleaner, cooler Special Blonde Ash result.

The formula also contains integrated Schwarzkopf Bonding Technology. According to Schwarzkopf Professional, this technology creates a protective layer around the hair bonds during lifting, helping reduce breakage and maintain the integrity of the hair while the colour develops.

Unlike a bleaching powder, IGORA ROYAL Highlifts is a lifting colour cream. It works by lifting natural pigment while depositing tone. It therefore cannot reliably lighten hair that has already been coloured with a darker artificial shade. Previously coloured, heavily highlighted or chemically compromised hair should be assessed by a professional colourist before application. 

For accurate, even results, shade 12-2 should be mixed in a 1:2 ratio with IGORA ROYAL Oil Developer and processed for 30–45 minutes. The final result will depend on the natural starting level, undertone, porosity, previous chemical history, developer strength and application technique.
